Initial shipments of the CL2320R are expected to begin in September.

"Patton is thrilled to introduce our new Industrial-Grade Ethernet Extender," said Mr. Robert Patton, CEO of Patton.

"Years ago, we created the industry's first Ethernet Extender. Now, this ruggedized version includes RS-232 extension, further expanding our portfolio of reliable solutions for industrial networking applications, Mr. Patton said."

First. Patton created and brought to market the industry's first-ever Ethernet extender solution in 1997.

New. Now, the newest member of the CopperLink family extends industrial Ethernet and Asynchronous RS-232 traffic up to 4 miles over a single copper twisted pair. The ruggedized device can achieve speeds up to 15 Mbps.

Industrial. Patton has designed the CL2320R for use in such harsh environments as railways, automobile tunnels, mine shafts, oil rigs, smart cities, IIoT, transportation, security, energy, and utilities.

Ingress Protection. Rated IP-40 for ingress protection against tools and wires, the device supports operating temperatures from -20 to +70°C. It comes with DIN rail mounting kit for panel builds and can also be installed in a standard 19-inch rack.

Steady Growth. According to a 2023 study from HMS Networks (Sweden), the industrial network market is expected to grow by 7% this year. The reported data speaks to the ongoing importance of reliable network connectivity in harsh environments.

Topologies. Network engineers can deploy the extender in point-to-point, multi-point, daisy-chain, and ring topologies.

Up Next. Patton is also planning a ruggedized 8-port Copper-Fiber Ethernet Extender. Watch for the upcoming announcement.
