Fažana, Croatia - September 7, 2022 - For more than 10 years, Zach Matthews, known by his stage name z.matt.33, has been creating music that inspires others and reflects his life's experiences. The Memphis native honed his skills as a drummer in his early years as a prolific musician and member of many bands in the Memphis and Nashville scenes. Within a short time, Matthews expended his musical skills and became a talented producer releasing eight albums in the last decade both on his own and with his group, Fresh Hats Tight Beats. Now, on the heels of an adventure that has seen him completely uproot his life, Matthews is releasing his latest EP, Postcards, set for release on September 9, 2022.
The aptly named EP, Postcards, is an homage to Matthews recent adventures throughout the EU. From Croatia, where he currently resides, to Italy where he draws inspiration for the tracks on this EP, Matthews has incorporated elements of every city he has visited into his music. The energetic electronic beats are mellowed by the tintinnabulationof ancient church bells which bring a distinctly classic European flavour to the album. The eminently listenable EP features three tracks, from the calm “Tipping Point,” to the more upbeat “Perspectives,” the EP is a journey through the cobble-stoned streets of Italy blended with the modern musical style Matthews is known for.
“It's impossible for musicians to not be inspired by their surroundings,” explains Zach Matthews, the producer and creator of Postcards. “I have travelled the world, but like many people in 2021, following the worst of the pandemic, I was looking for a change, I wanted to experience the world again and go on another adventure. When I walk through the old streets of Corniglia in Cinque Terre in the evenings, the sights, the sounds, the food, the people, the natural beauty of the coast, it all causes movement in me. The idea is to translate how the beauty makes me feel in the moment and make a track inthat setting. For this EP, I made these tracks on a terrace in Cinque Terre and on a rooftop in Florence. Piece by piece, track by track, these become the stories of my travels. This EP is the first taste of these latest adventures. Music is all about telling stories, right?”
