Announcing the launch of legal support for victims, Attorney David Slepkow has signaled his commitment to upholding the rights of those affected by contaminated water. The Camp Lejeune Justice Act states that anyone who lived or worked at the base between 1952 and 1987 for at least 30 days and was exposed to its contaminated water can file a claim against the US Government. To file a claim, a diagnosis of some disease resulting from the water toxicity is required.
Those who were exposed to contaminated Camp Lejeune water have developed certain types of cancer at far greater rates than the general population. Those affected have reported kidney, prostate, colorectal, and bladder cancer as well as leukemia.
In addition to certain types of cancers, exposure to toxic chemicals at Camp Lejeune has also resulted in cases of Parkinson’s disease. The number of Parkinson’s cases has been growing among people who have spent time at Camp Lejeune.
According to David Slepkow and his team, it is difficult to pinpoint the exact settlement amount, however, in other types of cancer lawsuits, settlements have amounted to roughly $200,000 per plaintiff. Slepkow, Slepkow & Associates reports that the Congressional Budget Office estimate on settlements is about $6.7 billion.
Anyone who may have been affected is advised to contact Attorney David Slepkow who will uphold their rights in court and seek the maximum possible settlement.
David Slepkow is a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar and has 23 years of legal experience. He is rated Superb by AVVO-10 out of 10 and is an alumnus of the Roger Williams University School of Law.
According to a spokesperson for the Rhode Island law firm, “If you or a loved one was sickened after being exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune, you may be entitled to significant financial compensation. You should contact an attorney to file your lawsuit against the federal government. Because of the way that the new law works, you have a limited amount of time to file your case.”
