The event included dining, dancing, music, and a silent auction. All proceeds, including The Foundation Works’ $25,000 donation benefits the Meals on Wheels Program in Los Angeles.
Hosted by Susan Hirasuna and attended by Los Angeles City Councilmembers Mitch O’Farrell and Nithya Rama, Hollywood Under the Stars marked a return to fundraising for St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Keith Whallett, CEO of The Foundation Works said sponsoring the event was an honor.
“We support St. Vincent Meals on Wheels’ mission and love to support them and the crucial services they provide day after day, to keep our most vulnerable older adults safe by delivering daily hot meals and providing wellness checks,” Whallett said.
As the largest privately-funded senior nutrition program in the nation, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels prepares and delivers more than 100,000 meals each month to homebound seniors and other vulnerable residents across Los Angeles regardless of age, illness, disability, race, religion, or ability to pay.
The Foundation Works has long been a supporter of St. Vincent Meals on Wheels. In 2020, as the foundation repair and soft story retrofit company was deemed an essential business, and continued operating, they pledged all inspection fees to Meals on Wheels, ultimately raising and donating more than $30,000. As the result of their efforts to help during the pandemic, Meals on Wheels named The Foundation Works to the non-profit’s Circle of Angels Donor Wall.
The inaugural St. Vincent Meals on Wheels Hollywood Under the Stars was held on June 25, 2022, at Paramount Pictures. Participating restaurants included Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery, Gracias Madre, Fanny’s, Tesse, L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, Kali, Wood & Vine, Hank’s, Georgia’s Restaurant, Sumac Mediterranean Cuisine, Etoile Filante Patisserie, Bertha Mae’s Brownie Co., Lark’s Cake Shop and Läderach Chocolatier Suisse.
Additional sponsors of the event included Daughters of Charity, Delta Dental, Longo Toyota Lexus, Wallis Annenberg GenSpace, US Bank, and others.
