Level 1 Patient Blood Management Certification Given to Intermountain St. Vincent Regional Hospital

The Joint Commission and AABB certification means that St. Vincent Hospital has met or exceeded the most comprehensive evaluation process for Patient Blood Management

(PRUnderground) June 5th, 2024

The Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB ) and the Joint Commission has given Intermountain Health St. Vincent Regional Hospital the Level 1 Patient Blood Management Certification, meaning St. Vincent has met or exceeded the most comprehensive evaluation process for blood management in the health care industry.

The patient-centered, systematic, evidence-based approach referred to as Patient Blood Management (PBM) improves patient outcomes by managing and preserving the patient’s own blood, while promoting patient safety and empowerment.

The Level 1 certification is the highest Patient Blood Management certification available.  St. Vincent is one of only ten hospitals nationally to achieve this certification and the only hospital in our region to be certified as a patient blood management facility.

“Receiving this certification demonstrates to our community our commitment to the highest level of patient care and stewardship for our community’s precious, life-saving blood resources,” said Dr. Michael Brown, director of patient blood management at St. Vincent.
