Patton Acquires Raymar Information Technologies – Delivering Lifelines to Legacy Industrial Networks

By: PRLog

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Aug. 26, 2024 - PRLog -- Patton, a US-manufacturer of industrial networking and communications solutions since 1984, announces the acquisition of Raymar Information Technology, a prominent maker of legacy industrial datacom solutions.  The combined company enables customers, who depend on continued availability of deeply rooted legacy technologies to sustain critical industrial networks.

Raymar was founded in 1982, in California, as "The Computer Exchange" selling and programming the original micro and minicomputers for government and industrial customers, including those made by Microdata Corporation.  McDonnell Douglas acquired Microdata in 1983, forming McDonnell Douglas Information Systems.

During the mid-1980s,  Raymar became established in the Data Communications business as a reseller for leading brands, to facilitate deployment of large industrial multi-site communication networks.  In the late 1990's and into the 2000's, Raymar began acquiring companies and product lines from larger brands who shed off older products to focus on next-generation technologies.

Raymar acquired the Modem, VCX, CSX, and Access Beyond portfolios of Penril, after Penril was sold to Bay Networks.  Raymar also acquired the UDS, Codex and VanGuard portfolios of Motorola in the second-hand purchase of Telenetics Inc. and later VanGuard Networks.  The Telenetics acquisition included the Telenetics brand of modem products as well.  Other acquisitions included Telcom 21 & American Technology Labs.

Over the years, Raymar has made itself into the premier manufacturer of Dial-Up & Leased Line Modems, Sub-Rate Multiplexers, Terminal Servers, Channels Banks, DDS & T1 CSU/DSUs including vintage brands (with specialized functions customized for industry).  Raymar continues serving industrial customers reliant on these technologies to maintain Critical Infrastructure.

"When it comes to technology, the word 'legacy' unfortunately has a negative inference.  Said Burton Patton, Patton's Chief Revenue Officer.  "But Legacy isn't only 'not bad'; it is essential.  said Patton.

"Resilient and reliable communication technologies have propagated so widely & deeply into defense and industrial networks as to become an embedded and indispensable part of the infrastructure." Said Gary Portellas, Raymar' s CEO & Managing Director.  "Patton's strategy of investing in sticky technologies & markets is brilliant".  Continued Portellas.

Government, Transportation, Energy, Water, and Telecom markets still rely upon and need to continue using highly secure technologies that other markets consider as legacy.

Patton undertook this acquisition to ensure long-term support for Raymar's existing customers, ensuring uninterrupted technology, product and technical support.  Patton also intends to leverage the technology building blocks and know-how to deliver custom electronic design and manufacturing services for the Defense, Intelligence, and Industrial markets.
