CCAW convenes leading experts from across the country to educate and train professionals working at the intersection of prevention and response efforts of all types of violent crimes against women.

The Mary Kay Ash Foundation^℠, a philanthropic leader with a mission to end domestic violence, continued its sponsorship of the 18^th annual Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW) which took place in Dallas, Texas from May 22-25. The annual convening is the largest of its kind – attracting more than 25,000 domestic and global attendees since inception - and the only national conference that addresses crimes against women from a multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral collaborative approach. Serving as a national clearinghouse for training on the identification, investigation, and prosecution of all types of violent crimes against women, it encourages a coordinated community response from cross-sectoral frontline responders.

2,500 participants from nine countries and territories attended the 2023 Conference and all 50 U.S. states were represented. Law enforcement comprised 23% of attendees, 22% were advocates and prosecutors made up 9%. Over the course of four days, 130 scholarships were awarded, 222 education-packed workshops were held, and 225 speakers shared their insights on effective response and protection efforts.

To help break the cycle of abuse, the Foundation has awarded more than $56 million to domestic violence shelters, programs, and services. Since 2000, more than 2,700 organizations across all 50 states have received over $56 million in grants to provide domestic violence response services to women and their children through the Foundation’s annual grant program.

In North Texas, the Mary Kay Ash Foundation supports four local domestic violence shelters and longtime partners - Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support, The Family Place, Hope’s Door New Beginning, and Denton County Friends of the Family - to provide vital services to survivors through annual grants of $25,000. These funds provide continued support towards general operating costs, transitional housing, outreach counseling facilities, as well as therapeutic services, legal representation, and other services.
