Windstream Wholesale, a leading provider of advanced optical solutions, today announced that it is extending its previously announced Tulsa-to-Little Rock high capacity 432-count fiber route to Memphis. The Tulsa-Little Rock link, dubbed the “T-Rock Express,” is on schedule to be ready for service in August. The Memphis extension is expected to come online by the second half of 2023.
Additional fiber construction projects underway are two dark fiber routes in high-demand corridors:
- A 432-count fiber route from New York City to Montreal (CanAm2) is expected to be ready for service by the second half of 2023.
- An 864-count fiber route from Raleigh, N.C., to cable landing stations in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jacksonville, Fla., (the “Beach Route”) is expected to be ready for service by the first half of 2024.
Meanwhile, Windstream Wholesale has completed its Hillsboro fiber ring and is selling diverse, dark fiber “extensions” between EdgeConneX, Flexential, Stack, DRT and QTS data centers in Hillsboro and multiple data centers in Portland.
Taken together, these construction projects add approximately 1,600 miles of fiber to Windstream’s network.
“As we continue to lead the way in ultra-fast optical transmission, Windstream Wholesale is excited about these three major construction projects that will further our commitment to providing customers with high-capacity, diversity and redundancy,” said Joe Scattareggia, executive vice president of Wholesale Sales at Windstream. “The rapidly escalating demand for cloud services is only going to continue to grow, and Windstream Wholesale is positioned to provide both lit services and dark fiber to meet our customers’ needs for years to come.”
Windstream Wholesale is a Silver Sponsor of International Telecoms Week, May 9-12, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at the National Harbor, Maryland, near Washington D.C. Representatives will be available (and easy to find in purple attire) in Annapolis Meeting Rooms #1 & #2 and in area #419 in the exhibit area.
Windstream Wholesale recently announced a new brand identity to capitalize on its “fast and flexible” approach to technology leadership and service delivery. The new brand identity features a graphical element logo that symbolizes fluidity in motion and will proudly be presented at the upcoming ITW event.
