Known for its iconic, welcoming red doors, CSCNT operates three clubhouses providing cancer-centered resources in Dallas, Tarrant and Collin counties. The leading non-profit is affiliated with Cancer Support Community, the largest professionally led nonprofit network of cancer support worldwide dedicated to ensuring no one faces cancer alone. Dr. Lucy Gildea, Chief Innovation Officer of Product and Science at Mary Kay Inc., serves on the CSCNT Board of Directors and accepted the award on behalf of the MKAF.

“Just over 40 years ago, our founder Mary Kay Ash tragically lost her husband to lung cancer and soon after, she put her money where her heart was and began raising funds for cancer research,” said Dr. Gildea. “What started as humble donations from Mary Kay Ash, employees and the Mary Kay independent sales force has evolved into a yearly, multi-million-dollar investment in cancer research worldwide. As part of that investment, the Mary Kay Ash Foundation has proudly supported Cancer Support Community North Texas in its mission of ensuring that those impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by our local community.”

In 2022, CSCNT celebrated its 20th anniversary of providing North Texas cancer patients and caregivers with a comforting place of refuge providing education, psychological support, networking, children’s programs, workshops and more – all free of charge. To date, the MKAF has awarded grants to CSCNT totaling $370,000.

“We are thrilled to honor the Mary Kay Ash Foundation for its extensive support of CSCNT at our annual Red Tie Gala and 20th anniversary celebration,” said Mirchelle Louis, CEO of Cancer Support Community North Texas. “Mary Kay Ash’s story underscores the difference one person can make in the fight against cancer. Throughout the years, our partnership with the Foundation continues to make a difference in the lives of countless North Texans who are living with cancer.”

Since 1996, the Mary Kay Ash Foundation has awarded more than 250 grants totaling over $25 million to fund cancer research, awareness initiatives, community outreach programs and advocate for legislation to ensure women are healthy and safe. For more information, visit marykayashfoundation.org
