The human eye can see 10 million colours, But makeup brands are still trying to convince us that a foundation range of 25 shades is ‘diverse’. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: the Australian makeup industry has an inclusivity problem. Brands continue to fail BIPOC when they slap ‘diverse’ labels on collections that look like a beige rainbow.
It’s no surprise ‘individuality’ is one of Mac’s five brand pillars; it’s been at the forefront of diversity with its products and marketing campaigns for decades. The brand tops our list, with 67 hues offered in its best-selling Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Foundation. And that number is growing. Mac also has a virtual try-on service, meaning you can snap a selfie and find your perfect shade match all from the comfort of your couch.
