Bryan Darby Explores a Variety of Human Emotions in the Relaunch of His Compelling Anthology of Short Stories

By: Issuewire

Wilmington, Delaware Jan 9, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Heading for Sunset and other stories is an anthology of true-to-life short stories spanning a wide range of subjects from the innermost secrets of the human heart to the outermost limits of human imagination. Readers can easily identify with well-developed characters that will appeal to everyone's inner child, whether hero, dreamer, or adventurer. The stories have a sincerity that will enable readers to relate easily to the author's sense of humor, as well as his ability to see beneath the surface to express subtlety and depth.

In addition to vivid imagery, some stories express a darker side, while others feature a tongue-in-cheek approach. The characters are not only compassionate and well-developed, but they are also thoroughly believable, Pop Culture allusions are well-picked, and the writing is grammatically sound and clear.

Every story is strong within its own genre and, while several contain sufficient in-depth material to form the basis of a novel, some have already been developed into stage plays.

Readers will appreciate how the author switches characters from one narrative to the next and how he deals with subjects that are close to the heart of readers.

About the Author

Moving from southeast London to Kent in 1962, Bryan Darby's interest in writing was aroused when he met Peggy Cochrane, the well-known concert pianist and composer and wife of 1930- 40s bandleader, Jack Payne.

The chance meeting led to a song-writing collaboration, poetry, and short stories, then, more recently, to stage plays. He received dozens of rejections before his stories began to appear in the 'Evening News', a national daily newspaper now, sadly, long defunct. Since then, his work has appeared in a wide range of publications across the market, and, for more than fifteen years, he taught fiction writing at local Adult Education Centres.
