Sean Thompson, CEO and co-founder of Canadian-owned Foodtech company Psigryph Incorporated, was honored as a Top 5 finalist in this year’s CanadianSME Small Business Awards. Thompson was a strong contender for the 2023 Black Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The CanadianSME Small Business Awards’ goal is to pay tribute to small and medium sized enterprises (SME) that contribute to Canada’s growing economy, as well as recognize and celebrate entrepreneurs that have worked tirelessly to establish themselves in their respective fields. Approximately 97% of Canada’s economy are SMEs, making them a significant part of Canada’s business industry. CanadianSME is the premier platform for SMEs in the country, and the organization offers entrepreneurs a much-needed support system.

For 2023, the Awards theme was Innovate and Connect: Empowering Small Businesses for a Digital Tomorrow, highlighting entrepreneurs who have proven their creativity, resilience, and integration of blossoming technology. The award winners were announced June 7th during the Canadian SME Small Business Awards Gala.

“I am incredibly honored that I was nominated for such a wonderful award,” said CEO Sean Thompson. “When the late Dr. Gopinadhan Paliyath and I founded Psigryph Incorporated, our goal was to create technology and products that had the power to help improve the lives of people across the country. While Dr. Paliyath is sadly no longer with us, I will carry his dreams with me and ensure the world never forgets him. This nomination alone is a beautiful testament to our success, and I am forever grateful.”
