Arizona City, Arizona — Clients who stay with The River Source’s full addiction treatment program are far more likely to succeed with long-term sobriety, according to an assessment report released by the Arizona-based program. The River Source’s Brief Addiction Monitor (BAM) shows a 35% increase in recovery success and, at the same time, an 86% decrease in the risk of relapse for those who stay with the program.

The River Source is a fully accredited drug and alcohol rehab program that treats substance use disorders involving alcohol and various drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, opioids, benzodiazepines, psychedelics, marijuana, methadone and prescription drugs. Clients receive care at several levels, beginning with detox and continuing through inpatient treatment, outpatient therapy and long-term follow-up in aftercare. In addition, they undergo partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care if needed.

The BAM is a wide-ranging assessment administered by The River Source every 30 days or at the beginning and end of care. Its results are used to design individual treatment plans and monitor progress during care.

The assessment tool analyzes risk factors affecting someone’s current and future substance use, including their abuse patterns and cravings, their level of confidence in recovery and the support system they can rely on for help in healing. It also looks at the client’s physical health, financial security, mental health and spirituality.

Possibly driving the results of the most recently released BAM is The River Source’s Recovery Guarantee. If someone completes the entire program and follows their treatment plan but relapses within a year of graduating, they may return for treatment at no charge.

To ensure that no one will need to return, The River Source offers thoughtfully planned, clinically driven therapy at each stage of treatment. Aptly named Reclaim Your Life, the program helps clients find long-term, lifetime recovery with strategies and tools they can call on long after leaving treatment. Therapy doesn’t just treat the physical addiction but takes a holistic approach that seeks to heal the whole person – body, mind and spirit.

Rehab at The River Source includes group therapy, individual counseling, family therapy and therapy for co-occurring substance abuse and emotional disorders. The BAM assessment shows the value of this approach; the risk of substance use falls steadily while protection from relapse rises over the typical 120-day period of care.
