A Message from Neil Smit Regarding a Time Warner Cable Acquisition Update

Several weeks ago, as part of the process surrounding the Time Warner Cable (TWC) acquisition, we announced our plans to add approximately seven million new customers in key markets in greater New York, greater Boston, Dallas, Northern California, Southern California, Oregon, greater Atlanta, Tennessee and the Carolinas.   We also announced our intention to transfer approximately 2.5 million Comcast customers to a new, independent publicly-traded company, contingent upon the close of the TWC acquisition.  This new company will serve customers in states including Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, and will be majority owned by Comcast shareholders and minority owned by Charter Communications.  This company will have its own independent management team, and Charter will provide operational support under a services agreement.  The next step in forming this new company is the selection of Michael Willner as the President and CEO.  You can read the full announcement below.

I have known Michael for many years and am thrilled that he will be assuming this role.  A 40-year cable industry veteran, he was the co-founder and CEO of Insight Communications, which grew to become one of the country’s top ten cable companies before it was sold to Time Warner in 2012.  Michael is extremely well respected for his leadership, vision and integrity.  I am confident that he will leverage his talent and expertise to invest in this business, drive growth and deliver a great customer experience to these markets.

We will keep you informed as the process continues to evolve.  Please keep in mind that any changes are many months away pending the close of the Time Warner Cable transaction.  In the meantime, thank you for your hard work and your unwavering focus on serving our customers and achieving our operating goals.
