Item 2.05 Costs Associated with Exit or Disposal Activities.
On February 23, 2009, Kulicke and Soffa Industries, Inc. (the Company) committed to a plan to reduce its global workforce by approximately 215 employees. In light of deteriorating conditions in the global economy and projected weaker demand for the Companys products and services, management determined that it was in the best interests of the Company to minimize cash usage and reduce compensation costs. The Company expects that the workforce reduction will be substantially complete by May 31, 2009.
The workforce reduction will result in approximately $12.4 million in annualized savings. In addition, the Company will incur pre-tax expense and future cash expenditures of approximately $4.0 million, primarily for severance costs.
